Celebrating Nostalgia Through Art

Peyton Brown, a visual artist from West Virginia, has an extraordinary talent for capturing the essence of nostalgia, tradition, and connection in her artwork. Her latest piece, Tip-Top Coffee Shop, will be featured in our upcoming Coffee Table Art Book, showcasing her incredible skill in digital illustration.

Tip-Top Coffee Shop is a captivating digital depiction of the beloved coffee shop exterior in Thomas, WV. Peyton shares, “This piece was inspired by my favorite coffee shop in Thomas, WV, called TipTop. Thomas is one of my favorite towns in the entire world. It is a very small town in West Virginia, with one main street lined with antique stores, art shops, and other unique businesses. I’ve taken many trips here with family and friends, and this town holds a very special place in my heart. No trip to Thomas is complete without a stop at TipTop!”

Peyton’s work goes beyond digital illustration; she is also a remarkable oil painter. Her paintings and drawings are deeply autobiographical, often centered around themes of nostalgia, tradition, and human connection, particularly through food and drink. “I am fascinated by the ways that food can nourish us physically, while also nourishing our souls and our hearts through the memories created when preparing and sharing meals with others,” Peyton explains.

Currently pursuing her MFA in Painting at West Virginia University, Peyton’s dedication to her craft is evident in her recent achievements:

  • Graduated in May with her MFA in Painting and a graduate certificate in therapeutic art from West Virginia University.
  • Held solo thesis exhibitions titled “At the Table” at the Laura Mesaros Gallery at WVU and at The Co-Op in Morgantown, WV.
  • Published her fifth coloring book, “Mountain State Masterpieces: A West Virginia Coloring Book,” in February. This book features famous WV natives, state symbols, and locations from each of the 55 counties.
  • Accepted a position as a remote adjunct professor at WVU.

Peyton Brown’s artwork is a beautiful homage to her memories and experiences, inviting viewers to reflect on their own connections and traditions. Her ability to convey warmth and familiarity through her art makes her a standout artist in the contemporary art scene.
